Solutions for Patient Safety Top 16
Gillette Children's was recognized by Children’s Hospitals’ Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS) for meeting all three performance targets for patient safety. We’ve had zero stage III or greater pressure injuries, central line associated blood stream infections (CLABSIs) or unplanned extubations in 2020. There are more than 140 hospitals in the SPS network. Out of these 140 hospitals, only 16 have met all three performance targets for safety. We’re proud to be one of the 16!
Solutions for Patient Safety Hospital of the Month
Gillette Children's was recognized by Children’s Hospitals’ Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS) as the September 2020 SPS Hospital of the Month. SPS is a national network of over 135 hospitals in the United States and Canada focused on one thing: eliminating harm. Gillette has partnered with SPS since 2013. SPS recognizes Gillette as the SPS Hospital of the Month for September 2020 for 100% submissions in both outcome data and reliability data; for a decrease in adverse drug events and for a sustained rate of 0.00 for pressure injuries, central line blood stream Infections (CLABSI) and unplanned extubations.
March of Dimes Minnesota Rising Star
For a decade, the March of Dimes Minnesota Nurse of the Year Awards event and fundraiser has celebrated the health care community by recognizing nursing excellence and achievements in research, education, quality patient care, innovation and leadership. Each award is presented to the most outstanding nurse within each select category. Gillette Children's nurse Alexsandra Wenzel received the Rising Star Award in 2020.
Pediatric Home Service Top Spots
Pediatric Home Service (PHS) honored Gillette Children's with a Top Spots award. Their patients in Minnesota and eastern Wisconsin were surveyed, and they voted Gillette the top digital community resource for special needs support groups, paying special recognition to our condition-specific Facebook groups: Cerebral Palsy Resource Group, Spina Bifida Resource Group, and Scoliosis Resource Group.
NCQA Patient Centered Specialty Practice Recognition
Earlier this year we received notice from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) that we have achieved Patient Centered Specialty Practice (PCSP) Recognition for our orthopedic practice at our St. Paul campus. The NCQA has now expanded that recognition to include our metro clinics as well: Maple Grove Clinic and Burnsville Clinic. We’re the first pediatric health care organization in Minnesota and our surrounding states to claim this distinction.
This recognition means Gillette Children's promotes a model of community partnership and sustainability, focuses on proactive care planning and sharing of information internally and externally. It means our patients and families have the expertise they need to advance their care.
