Jennifer Laine, MD, a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Gillette Children's, has been elected to the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America (POSNA) Board of Directors. Laine will serve as a Member At-Large, bringing her expertise in pediatric orthopedics, research and education to the organization.
Laine's appointment was announced after the conclusion of POSNA's annual conference in April 2023. As a member of the Board of the Directors, she will be working closely with other board members to help lead POSNA, an organization that includes more than 1,400 physicians and allied health professionals who are dedicated to advancing musculoskeletal care for children and adolescents.
"I am honored to be appointed to the POSNA Board of Directors," Laine said. "I am excited to work with such a dedicated and talented group of professionals to further advance the care of children with musculoskeletal conditions. I look forward to contributing to POSNA's important mission through my experience in patient care, research and education."
POSNA is a not-for-profit professional organization that is committed to improving musculoskeletal care for pediatric patients. The organization accomplishes this through initiatives in education, research, quality, safety, and value, as well as through advocacy and outreach to underserved areas.
Gillette Children's provides exceptional care for children with complex medical conditions, including orthopedic and musculoskeletal disorders, since its inception more than a century ago. It has become a leader in pediatric orthopedics, with a team of experts who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of children with conditions such as cerebral palsy, scoliosis, limb differences and spine disorders.
Laine is also the Medical Director of Research at Gillette Children's, where she is actively involved in advancing the understanding of complex pediatric brain, bone and movement conditions through research and education. She has a passion for teaching and has trained numerous medical students, residents and fellows.
Laine has also been appointed as the Chair of the POSNA Research Committee, which reviews research grant applications and works closely with the POSNA Research Council and the Board of Directors to determine its vision and strengthen research for pediatric musculoskeletal care.
“Research and collaborations are critical to improving care for Gillette patients,” she said. “I am honored to have these opportunities to help strengthen research and to work closely with other leaders in a respected organization like POSNA.”
