Under the direction of Chantel Burkitt, PhD, the Pain and Comfort Research Program conducts high quality studies aimed at improving the quality of both acute and chronic pain management for patients at Gillette.
Gillette investigators collaborate regularly with scientists to design novel research studies that will help inform future care.
Our specific areas of research include :
Assessing the efficacy of a modified Quantitative Sensory Test in individuals with Cerebral Palsy who may have developmental or cognitive delays, impacting their ability to communicate pain
Assessing the use of Virtual Reality in the reduction of pain perception in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis patients post spinal fusion
Assessing the use of Virtual Reality in the reduction of pain perception in pediatric Cerebral Palsy patients undergoing routine Botulinum A Toxin Injections to reduce spasticity
