Bahr joined the Gillette pediatrics team in 2019. She's been a crucial part of the Gillette Complex Care Clinic and our continued work to transition patients from pediatric to adult care. She completed medical school and residency at the University of Minnesota. She is double board-certified in pediatrics and internal medicine. Bahr practices in multiple Gillette clinics, including Baxter, Maple Grove and St. Paul.
Bahr wants to take a holistic and all-encompassing approach to treating Gillette patients and apply that to her pediatric team leadership approach.
"First and foremost, I want to get to know who the kid is and what quality of life means for that patient. How do they communicate with their outside world? What brings them joy? And what is it I can do to help give them more of that joy and take away the stress of having a chronic medical condition?" she said. "We want to leave no stone unturned and create a comprehensive team that is going to work long term for both the patient and the family."
Bahr was born in Brainerd, MN, and one of her priorities, along with new Associate Medical Director of Greater Minnesota Andrea Paulson, MD, is to bring care to where patients live – whether that is through virtual care, our greater Minnesota clinics or working with our patients' providers to streamline care.
"Patients who are born or grow up in Greater Minnesota or the Dakotas or other rural places don't have the same access to care as a patient who lives in the Twin Cities," she said. "It is really important to me to give back to the community that I grew up in and other rural communities. I want to make sure that patients who are born there and born with complex medical conditions can stay there and continue to get high-quality care."
