Clinical scientist Michael Schwartz, PhD, and certified orthotists Kristin Smith, CO, CTO, and Brian Benish, CO, are proud to share the culmination of 14 years of hard work in validating Thoraco-Lumbo-Sacral Orthoses (TLSOs) as a treatment option with predictable outcomes for children who have idiopathic scoliosis.

We sat down to discuss Gillette’s research “Is Nighttime Bracing Effective in the Treatment of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS)? A Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review Based on Scoliosis Research Society Guidelines” with Sara Morgan, PhD, Clinical Scientist.  

Each scoliosis treatment plan at Gillette is based on an individual’s goals as well as their health assessment. When determining care plan options, it’s important for physicians to consider the skeletal maturity of their patient.  

Like most research at Gillette Children’s, the latest meta-analysis published by our spine team focuses on finding the best treatment options for our patients. The team asked, “Is nighttime bracing effective in the treatment of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS)?”  

Katie Peltz, PA recently joined the Orthopedics team at Gillette Children’s. Peltz specializes in treating idiopathic, neuromuscular and congenital scoliosis, along with a variety of other conditions.

Dan Miller, MD, recently assumed a role as a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Gillette Children’s. Miller completed medical school at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, did his residency at Columbia University Medical Center, and completed a fellowship in orthopedic surgery at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
