We proudly share that Gillette Children’s Spine Institute has achieved the prestigious DNV Advanced Pediatric Spine Certification. This reflects our commitment to delivering exceptional care and maintaining the safest healthcare environment for our patients.
Gillette is the second hospital (first specialty hospital) in the nation to receive this recognition. The DNV Advanced Pediatric Spine Certification framework is part of an established quality management system (QMS). DNV’s advanced pediatric spine certification supports the guidance of the SRS, POSNA, AAOS, AANS APIC, ASA, relevant agencies (e.g., CMS), and professional organizations.
“Earning this important designation reflects our commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and safety. It further emphasizes the dedication of our staff to consistently seeking ways to improve patient outcomes and ensuring the highest quality of care,” says Tenner Guillaume, co-chair of Gillette Children’s Spine Institute.
The surveyors reviewed quality data, patient charts, policies and procedures and interviewed a patient and clinician staff. During their visit, they noted many strengths, including:
- Incredible documentation
- Multidisciplinary team approach
- Staff engagement
- Patient/family feedback
- Organizational commitment to quality and evidence-based practice
- Data visualization/dashboard
- Thoughtful staff education plan triaged by role and topic
- Impressive research efforts and contributions
Gillette looks forward to continuing the certification journey over the next year, prioritizing further process improvements, updating documents to reflect best practices, enhancing data capabilities, and implementing a staff spine education plan.
